Eat Clean and Still Enjoy Your Favorite Foods

JessicaMeet Jessica, Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at PAC. Jessica is here to help you create a healthy diet that you will enjoy!

Starting out on a fitness journey is hard, but trying to eat healthier is sometimes the hardest piece of the puzzle. We all know that it’s really about 80% diet and 20% fitness. So, where do you start? How does one say “Hasta La Vista” to all the comfort foods we know and love?

When I first started, I invested in an easy-to-read book. It’s by one of my favorites, Tosca Reno, and it’s the Clean Eating Book! There are several of them, but look for “Recharged.” It gives a ton of helpful information.

Next, make a list of all the foods you love and think you won’t be able to be without. Here’s the good news about this list…..you can write out healthy versions of your favorite foods! This is a GREAT way to keep you on track. Eating healthy does not mean just Chicken and lettuce!

Here are some examples:

Hamburgers – lean meat, use big romaine lettuce as “buns”

Pizza – use a whole wheat pita as the pizza crust, sugar free marinara sauce, low fat cheese, lean meats, tons of veggies

Pancakes – make protein pancakes!

Recipe: Insanity Protein Pancake

Ingredients:

1 (whole) egg

2 (medium) egg whites

1 (medium) scoop whey protein powder

1/4 (cup) instant oatmeal

Directions:

Combine ingredients with a few spoonfuls of water. Mix batter well, and then cook one large pancake on a non-stick skillet coated with cooking spray.

The key is to slowly make changes. The more you read, the more recipes you find, the easier Eating Healthy gets. Small Changes can make a BIG difference!

Here’s to your health!

My Secret? Work out with a Buddy!

My Secret? Work out with a Buddy!

MelodieMeet Melodie, PAC Fitness Group Exercise Instructor. Melodie believes that the key to workout success is having a workout partner.
A partner can benefit you in many ways including accountability, planning and encouragement. It’s great if you can use the gym for physical, mental and social stimulations, especially for stay-at-home moms and people who office out of their home. I always encourage participants in my group exercise classes to invite a friend or relative to come to class with them or to make friends with the people in the class. That new friend could be the catalyst to change your life!
When I stopped working full time, I was fat and bored! I starting going to the gym for fun. Twenty-five pounds and 2 ½ years later, I am not only fit but also leading others in achieving a healthier, active lifestyle! And, it all started by working out with friends!
Do you have a workout buddy? How to they inspire you? Let us know! We’d love to hear from you!
